Authoritarianism and Attitudes Toward Welfare Recipients Under Covid-19 Shock

This paper has looked at the evolution of attitudes toward welfare recipients and impact authoritarian dispositions on these in context Covid-19 health crisis. We used two representative surveys, first ( n = 2,054) conducted summer 2019 second 2,060) Quebec June 2020, near end wave pandemic province. One thousand one hundred seventy eight participants survey had also participated first, allowing to analyze potential movement among many same individuals. Overall, while our results clearly indicated that were associated with more negative views recipients, does not appear have affected relationship between traits. Additionally, we found no evidence a direct measure perceived threat moderated relation authoritarianism attitude recipients.
